What should you know about the Nootropil therapeutic effects?

Nootropil contains the active ingredient Piracetam that belongs to a group of medicines called nootropics. Nootropil works by improving, cognitive (cognitive) processes such as learning ability, ability to memorize. Piracetam improves mental functions without causing sedative and psychoactive effect. Nootroopil action mechanism is associated with the following mechanisms. It helps to improve neuronal plasticity, metabolic processes in the nerve cells, improves cooperation between right and left hemispheres. Nootropils stimulates cerebral microcirculation, improves rheological blood characteristics, causes vasodilation of blood vessels, inhibits platelets aggregation and restores the elasticity of erythrocyte membranes, decreases erythrocytes adhesion.

When is the drug prescribed?

  • Symptomatic treatment of psychoorganic syndrome, particularly in elderly patients manifested in memory problems, dizziness, impairment of attention concentration, also in patients with Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia Alzheimer's type.
  • Treating the consequences of ischemic stroke, such as speech disturbances, violations of emotional, motor and mental activity.
  • Alcoholism - in the treatment psychoorganic and withdrawal syndromes;
  • Period of recovery after cerebral injury and intoxication
  • Treatment of vertigo and related disorders
  • Cortical myoclonia in monotherapy or in combination with other medicines

In which cases you must be cautious or completely discontinue the drug?

  • Hemorrhagic stroke
  • Terminal stage of renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance 20ml/min)
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Children under 1 year of age

Which undesirable side effects may be caused by the drug?
